Description / Synopsis
Presented at the DC Research Café (May 14, 2020). Nicole Moen presents global health education research, first by highlighting a cycle of neglect within the Malawian health system, and how it has negatively affected the government’s ability to plan and execute chronic respiratory disease services. Relating her Malawian research to issues here in Canada, Moen discusses key content to globalize health curriculum. Topics include: understanding how sustainable development goals relate to daily life in Canada, both at work and in education; understanding migrant access to health in Canada; teaching student advocacy; health promotion; understanding how nursing and health science programs talk about global health.
