Abstract
This poster was presented at the Humanities and Social Sciences Student Virtual Poster Conference (April 9, 2021) with support from the HiPE Committee (Douglas College). In a world of technological somnambulance and market forces, there is a very real danger that education may be reduced to TV dinner education where a few big-name professors record shrink wrapped courses that are sold to great profit, supported only by low paid markers. The goal of this project is to get Professors, Students, and Administration to think about how we can use the lessons of Covid driven online learning to combine both face-to-face and distance learning in a way that has the best features of both. The Infinite classroom represents the merging of two class sections, one in person, one virtual, taught by a pair of educators. The model presented is a starting place, think of the possibilities, think of the advantages, work through the challenges, and consider running an experimental pilot project. Everything required already exists, it’s a choice between taking control or sleep walking into the future. |
