I am an instructor in, and Chair of, the Sport Science Department at Douglas College. All of my formal education has been in sociology with a focus on sport and health broadly, and youth sport, families, and rural and remote communities more specifically. I grew up and continue to live on the North Shore of BC's Lower Mainland, where I have organized and administered the 18+ programming for the North Shore Girls Soccer Club since 2011. I have played soccer competitively for 30+ years and continue to play in the Metro Women's Soccer League. From 2019-2022, I served as a Director with the North Shore Youth Soccer Association, and from 2017- 2021 I served as a member of the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Council Regional Committee (Coastal). Before that I spent 7 years coaching and volunteering with the Vancouver Street Soccer League based out of the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. My work and service are guided by a desire to create equitable, enjoyable sport spaces where each of us can thrive on our own terms. My research interests continue to revolve around gender, indigenous, and rural/remote equity and inclusion in the sport system(s) that operate in Canada.
